MORI presents SOULGASM Movement Session with Lyanne Brooks!

An all ages movement gathering centered around rhythm, connection and community participation through music and dance.

Rooted in the spirit of social dance culture, we invite participants of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels to move together through guided groove, communal line movement and shared dance exploration, bringing people together in joy and rhythm.

Participants will explore House dancing fundamentals, rhythm, groove and simple social dance steps designed to encourage connection, expression and community participation through movement.

Participants will also learn the Soul Train line and an easy Soulgasm line dance that will return as part of the upcoming August Soulgasm experience at the Sculpture Garden at Capitol Modern, creating a shared movement experience across both gatherings.

No dance experience necessary. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring water, light snacks and anything that supports ease of movement and relaxation throughout the session.

About the Instructor

Lyanne Brooks is a curator, educator, community builder, and cultural connector whose work centers on music, movement, and reflection. She is the Founder & Artistic Director of Soulgasm Hawaiʻi, the islands' longest-running House music gathering, and the founder of Housing Project 360 and House Dance Hawaiʻi. For more than 20 years, she has taught hip hop and House dance, fostering cultural exchange and helping grow House music and dance communities throughout Hawaiʻi. Through events, education, mentorship, and creative collaborations, Lyanne continues to create spaces that inspire connection, self-discovery, and shared experience.
