About the Collaboration & Artists

“Taking Shape” is a collaboration by designer and illustrators Jordan Higa and Noa Emberson. Through screen printing, they explore the process of creating both art and a life together in Pauoa Valley, drawing inspiration from the shapes around them while blending Jordan’s fluid expression with Noa’s more structured style.

Jordan Higa  is a designer, illustrator and painter from Honolulu. After studying design in San Francisco and working with fashion brands in New York City, she returned to O‘ahu in 2015. Her work celebrates everyday Hawai‘i and the colors and details of the natural world. Jordan’s fluid approach and openness to new mediums reflect her ever-evolving artistic practice.

Noa Emberson, a designer, illustrator and screen printer, was born in Honolulu and raised on Hawai‘i Island and Maui. After studying design at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, he worked at Surfing Magazine in Los Angeles before returning to O‘ahu in 2014. His work often integrates themes of surfing, grid systems and geometric forms. Transitioning from a primarily digital practice, Noa developed his screen-printing skills to bring an organic quality to his designs.
