About the Artist

Kaela Kahiau is a visual artist based out of Honolulu, Hawai’i whose creativity has been encouraged by the natural beauty of Hawai’i since childhood. Kaela began as a photographer but began painting around 2015 as a new way to explore visual beauty and to expand their tools for self-expression. Through the years, painting has served as support, a new language of self-expression and as a way of escape. But as life unfolds further, Kaela’s work has become an expression of joy; grounded in gratitude for both external and internal worlds, an exploration into what it really means to move from joy; what it means to live and create fearlessly.
