About the Artist

Honolulu-based artist Kris Goto was born in Kagoshima, Japan. She spent her adolescence in Hong Kong and New Zealand before moving to Hawai’i in 2006. Kris once aspired to become a manga artist, particularly inspired by the works of Yuu Watase and Tezuka Osamu. This period established the foundation of her detailed penmanship and the characterization of her subjects in her works today. She is currently inspired by the local island lifestyle and the melding of cultures in Hawai’i.
